Smack! It’s the sound of you hitting rock bottom.
You just landed face first. You thought you had already hit rock bottom. But, guess what? The bottom just gave out and you fell a little deeper.
Keep in mind, it can always get worse. If you aren’t willing to change the initial problem, then you will continue to go deeper and deeper into oblivion.
Although it is possible to get out. Let me tell you EXACTLY how to climb out of that hole you fell so deep into.

Hitting Rock Bottom More Than Once
You might not like what I’m going to say. But this is your chance to save yourself before you are at the point of no return.
You have to know that hitting rock bottom is your chance to start fresh and begin again. People don’t seem to get that it can and will get worse if they let it.
It’s an illusion that once you hit rock bottom, there is nowhere left to go but up. Well, my dear. That is so NOT true. I hit rock bottom a long time ago. When I thought that things couldn’t get any worse, I was wrong. They got much much worse.
It seemed that every time I hit a new rock bottom, I fell through the trap door faster and faster. Quickly spiraling out of control.
After years and years of hell, I finally knew I couldn’t do it anymore. So I crawled out of that deep hole I fell into after hitting rock bottom time and time again.
No Magic Fix
How did I do it?
Is it possible for you to start over?
How will you make it back from the ledge after hitting rock bottom?
I am going to tell you. But I want you to make one thing clear right now. It’s not easy. It will take hard work, perseverance, and persistence on your part.
A magic fairy will not wave her wand and give you the life that you want. You have to be your own damn fairy and make it happen your self.
Plain and simple, your life is not going to get better by doing the same old shit that you have always done.
So here are several things for you to do so you can start over after hitting rock bottom. No matter how many times you fell.
First Thing First
Before you begin climbing out of the hole you are in, you have to do one thing.
BE REAL + HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT WHAT GOT YOU THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE
Sounds easy, right?
This part should be simple. Most people are aware of what got them to this point in their life.
Yet, this requires brutal honesty on your part. And truthfully, it is always hard for people to admit the reason for their downfall. There’s a number of things it could be.
- Bad relationship
For example, I was homeless, no job, a heroin addict, in and out of jail, etc. Hmm…what got me there? It was drugs. My heroin addiction was the root of ALL of my problems. Everything that has happened to me stemmed from my addiction.
See what I mean? Easy peasy.
Now, let’s move on.
The Tips To Improve Your Life After Hitting Rock Bottom:
1. Say Goodbye To The Wrong People
Our relationships affect our lives tremendously. Emotions cause people to make rash decisions. Not always thinking with their head but, with their heart or something else.
An unhealthy relationship can turn your world upside down. Our intimate relationships affect our lives greatly and if you think for an instant that your relationship is not good. Then, you need to evaluate the relationship and high tail it out of there as fast as possible.
Anyone that brings toxicity to your life needs to go, family included.
2. Start With the Basics
You can’t start building a kick-ass sober life when you have nothing to build on.
If you are trying to make it back after hitting rock bottom then you very well may be starting with NOTHING. And that’s fine, hard as hell but doable.
Yet, I will be honest – that was the thing I hated the most about my addiction. Having to start over time and time again with absolutely nothing. No home, no clothes, no money, no family, literally nothing.

3. Self- Awareness is Key
I know in addiction, you didn’t give a shit about anyone. That includes yourself.
It didn’t matter if you lived or died, as long as you were high.
Now in sobriety, you want to work on yourself, to become the best you possible. The whole honesty and being real with yourself plays a big role in this. You can’t lie to yourself.
You need to know your triggers, how to cope, who to eliminate, where to stay away from, and be aware of everything and how it affects you. Most importantly, you have to take a step back and control your actions, emotions, impulses.
4. Change Your Routine
This is rather complicated. Even if you don’t do the same thing every day, you do run on routine. All humans do.
You spent your days and nights doing specific things. Now you can’t do that.
The fastest way to break old habits and develop healthy ones is to formulate a new routine.
5. The Endgame
You have to decide how this is going to end. Choose how you are going to live. That’s your endgame.
Choose an outcome, choose how your sober life will develop, what your successes will be. Then, make a plan to get there.
6. Take Responsibility
Not only do you have to be honest with yourself but, you have to take responsibility for everything that has happened. EVERYTHING!
All the harm, all the trouble, all the bad times that you faced and that you caused others.
Own it, accept it, feel the pain, feel the shame, and make amends to those you can.
7. Allow Karma To Do Its Thing
I know that you are probably thinking I am out of my mind by saying that. But it’s true.
I’m not saying that all the pain you caused is going to come back at you tenfold. I know you fucked up and I know life has already fucked you in return. You hit rock bottom. Obviously, karma wasn’t doing you any favors there. I’ve been there, I know.
I’m looking at it another way. This is what I’m saying, Good things happen to good people. The longer you do things right, be fair, compassionate, and legit or legally, the more good things will come your way.
It’s true. If you don’t believe me. Give it a try and see what happens.
8. Eliminate the bullshit
Get rid of any and everything you possibly can that has ANYTHING to do with being at rock bottom.
Obviously no drugs but, dispose of all paraphernalia or anything that reminds you of using.
If it was a person, destroy everything that reminds you of that person. Say you have the person’s belongings, pack his shit up and mail it to him. Or give it to a mutual friend so you don’t have to physically see the person.
Even it’s your home, get rid of what you can. It’s not like you can throw away everything in your house so try rearranging rooms, do a deep cleaning, make it look brand new.
9. Use Your Skills
Your addiction took you to hell and then some. But you are making a come back after hitting rock bottom so use what you know.
Obviously, you’re a fighter, a survivor, you know how to get what you want.
If you have been an addict for so long that addiction is all you know then put it to good use. Turn your mess into a message. There are jobs you can get that is perfect for that exact thing. Do what you know!

10. Make It A Positive
Yes, starting over after hitting rock bottom is hard. Extremely hard and seems virtually impossible. But you need to try and make the best of it.
Think of the positives of starting over from rock bottom instead of how damn hard it will be. Then, it might just be that much easier to accomplish exactly what you want to.
Here are a few positive ways to look at starting over after being at the bottom.
- You have complete control over your emotions and reactions.
- Ability to create the life you want from scratch.
- Have the willingness to take chances when you have nothing to lose.
- You alone have the power of your life in your hands.
- God doesn’t give you anything more than you can handle.
So, you have a lot to think about.
Hopefully, you use these tips to create a kick-ass sober life. If not, you could fall deeper down after hitting rock bottom. Remember, it can always get worse than it is.
If you choose to pick up the pieces and put them back together differently then, good. Because there is NO doubt that you can do it.
Your Call To Action
This part is the hardest thing for people to do.
Not only do you have to write down your entire plan of action but you have to follow through with it. That means physically do what you say you’re going to do.
Once you take that first step, you already have it set in motion. So, it’s easier to continue on with your plan.
If you want to make it back from the ledge after hitting rock bottom then do something about it. You have to.
You made it this far, continue climbing out of the damn hole. Don’t let yourself fall back down. Even if you slip or get upset, keep going up. You don’t have to land back at the bottom because each time you hit rock bottom, it’s harder and harder to get out.
This is why you should take the initial step before you make a plan. So, you already have the process of moving forward set in motion. The rest is up to you.
You can do this. You can have an amazing life after hitting rock bottom. Look at it as a blessing in disguise. Think of how proud you will be once you do this. It is possible. Now you know just how strong you really are.
